Bärbel Miebach studied Graphic Design and Photography at the renowned Folkwang School in Essen/Germany. After graduating she worked as an art director for several innovative German lifestyle magazines.
After a dual career in both media, Bärbel Miebach began to fully concentrate on photography in the early 1990s, working internationally for major magazines and newspapers with a focus on portraiture and interiors.
When she moved to New York City in 2000 she found an excitingly diverse concentration of artists, designers, architects and other highly creative people - her elegant images from these rarefied worlds appeared in major American publications like The New York Times, Architectural Digest, ELLE Decor, Interior Design Magazine and many more. Miebach lived for ten years in New York.
In 2010 she published her third book, "The Art Of Living", with Monacelli Press/Random House. The book reflects her many years of working closely with America's most creative minds in contemporary art and design. These often reclusive individuals opened their doors to this sensitive photographer, allowing an intimate view into their work, private lives and living quarters.
Today Bärbel Miebach lives and works in Munich/Germany.
In February 2014 she opened her own gallery for contemporary photography in Munich's Art District.
